In this short video a team of archaeologists travels from Trujillo (Moche Valley) to the archaeological site of Gallinazo Group in the Virú Valley, some 50 km to the south. After a car ride on the Pan-American Highway and on dirt roads the team works on the highest platform of site V-59 in an effort to document the nature of this imposing building.
Three days in a family of weavers in Morrope, Peru.

In this clip archaeologist Flannery Surette learns how to set up a back strap loom in the house of Maria Santos Bances Valdera in Morrope, Peru. Flannery also learns how to weave under the supervision of Sra. Bances. Understanding traditional weaving techniques will be instrumental for Flannery’s study of ancient textiles from the Viru Valley – the focus of her PhD dissertation.
