Dan Jorgensen's latest research on the use of moblie phones and the current drought in Papua New Guinea is featured in the October 29 Western News article, Mobile phones answer call for relief help.

October 8, 2015 - Anthro Vanier Scholar Diana Moreiras Reynaga in Western News

In 2015, Anthropology PhD candidate Diana Moreiras Reynaga was one of four Western students to be awarded the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship. Diana's research focuses on obtaining dietary and geographical information about individuals who were sacrificed by the Aztecs as an offering to the gods. Diana and the other three Western Vanier scholars are featured in the Western News article, Vanier Celebrates Nation's Finest, October 8, 2015.

Dr. Andrew Walsh - Conference & Workshop Grant

Professor Andrew Walsh has been awarded a conference and workshop grant from the Wenner-Gren Foundation - an organization that supports worldwide research in all branches of anthropology. The award was given to aid the workshop 'The Anthropology of Precious Minerals', 2015, Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto, in collaboration wiith Dr. Annabel Vallard.
