Graduate Studies in Anthropology at Western
Streams of Study
The Anthropology Department at the University of Western Ontario offers graduate
degrees at the MA and PhD levels. At the MA level, we have three streams of
study: Sociocultural
Anthropology, Archaeology and Bioarchaeology
and Applied
Archaeology. At the PhD level, we have two streams of study: Sociocultural
Anthropology and Archaeology and Bioarchaeology. The different streams direct
students to take courses directly relevant to their program of study. However,
the program stresses the holistic view of the discipline of Anthropology and
several courses intertwine the Sociocultural
Anthropology and Archaeology and
Bioarchaeology
streams. Furthermore, students are encouraged to draw on faculty and
courses from outside their stream and even from other departments.
Sociocultural
Anthropology stream (MA &
PhD)
Archaeology and Bioarchaeology
stream (MA &
PhD)
Applied Archaeology stream (MA only)
