The Guañape Research Centre

The Guañape Research Centre will be a base camp for researchers from The University of Western Ontario when conducting fieldwork at the Gallinazo Group — a major archaeological site located in the Virú Valley, Peru. This compound will also be instrumental for running an Andean archaeology field school for training students, both graduates and undergraduates.

 



In 2007, The University of Western Ontario has purchased a site for building the research centre in the village of Puerto Moorin, a fishing community only 5 km away from the archaeological site. At the present time a wall is being erected around the compound and architect Manuel Alejandro Arana Zegarra is designing plans for the building (see preliminary sketch below).
