Our Mission Statement
The Western Anthropology Outreach (WAO) Committee is a group of graduate and undergraduate students passionate about improving public understanding of archaeology and biological, cultural, and linguistic anthropology.
Our mission is to provide accessible educational materials across all fields of anthropology and to offer interactive learning experiences for all ages passionate about STEM, the humanities, and the social sciences.
Our History
The Western Anthropology Outreach Committee began as a graduate student-run organization in the 2021/2022 academic year with the same intentions it holds now: to improve understanding of anthropology in the public realm. Since our origins, we have expanded further than we could have imagined. With our expansion has come more teaching opportunities for knowledge mobilization, such as class visits, conference speeches, awards and recognition for our work in the anthropological field, and engaging educational content accessible straight from your mobile devices.
