As anthropologists, we acknowledge and respect the longstanding relationship that Indigenous Nations have to this land and we strive towards active and meaningful engagement with Indigenous communities at all stages of the research process. We commit to conducting research that serves the interests of the communities with whom we work, and the process of truth and reconciliation. Through our teaching and research, we are committed to building understanding and acceptance of differences among human beings and identifying and fighting structural racism and inequality.

Western Anthropology EDIDA Committee is an inclusive and action-based group working on initiatives brought to our attention or identified as priorities by members of the Western Anthropology community. We organize or support relevant programming, provide support, advice, and guidance on request, and run a biennial department survey.
Anyone affiliated with Western Anthropology is welcome to join our committee's email list: faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students. This does not commit you to meetings or other responsibilities. Feel free to join just to stay informed, chime in or pitch in as you wish.
